چکیده

Bemisia tabaci is a devastating agricultural insect pest worldwide, and B. MED (formerly biotype ‘Q’) threatens the production of horticultural economic crops in China as growing number cases insecticide resistance have issued, highlighting requirement for alternative methods measures management. In present work, toxicities eight popular chemical agents, including novel pyropene afidopyropen, on adults were determined, then physiological biochemical responses to sublethal concentrations confirmed. Among all tested afidopyropen exhibited highest toxicity adult whiteflies (LC50: 7.38 mg/L). The effects studied at two concentrations, LC10 (0.53 mg/L) LC25 (1.84 mg/L), treatment extended duration growth stages reduced viabilities nymphal, pseudopupae, adults. egg-laying days eggs laid per female also decreased significantly, was hatchability treatment. Metabolic enzyme assays suggested that could be ascribable enhanced detoxification mediated by glutathione S-transferase. summary, our findings indicate can used agent management whiteflies.

Genome sequencing of the sweetpotato whitefly Bemisia tabaci MED/Q

The sweetpotato whitefly Bemisia tabaci is a highly destructive agricultural and ornamental crop pest. It damages host plants through both phloem feeding and vectoring plant pathogens. Introductions of B. tabaci are difficult to quarantine and eradicate because of its high reproductive rates, broad host plant range, and insecticide resistance. A total of 791 Gb of raw DNA sequence from whole ge...

Gene expression in pyriproxyfen-resistant Bemisia tabaci Q biotype.

Pyriproxyfen is a biorational insecticide that acts as a juvenile hormone (JH) analogue and disrupts insect development with an unknown molecular mode of action. Pyriproxyfen is one of the major insecticides used to control the whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) and comply with integrated pest management (IPM) programmes, resulting in minimal effects on the environment, humans and beneficial o...

Gene Expression Profiling in the Thiamethoxam Resistant and Susceptible B-biotype Sweetpotato Whitefly, Bemisia tabaci

Thiamethoxam has been used as a major insecticide to control the B-biotype sweetpotato whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae). Due to its excessive use, a high level of resistance to thiamethoxam has developed worldwide over the past several years. To better understand the molecular mechanisms underlying this resistance in B. tabaci, gene profiles between the thiamethoxam...

siRNA Machinery in Whitefly (Bemisia tabaci)

BACKGROUND RNA interference has been emerged as an utmost tool for the control of sap sucking insect pests. Systemic response is necessary to control them in field condition. Whitefly is observed to be more prone to siRNA in recent studies, however the siRNA machinery and mechanism is not well established. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS To identify the core siRNA machinery, we curated transcr...
